com' on baby light my fire!

Do you believe in Ear candling?

Ear candling, also called ear coning or thermal-auricular therapy, is an alternative medicine practice claimed to improve general health and well-being by lighting one end of a hollow candle and placing the other end in the ear canal. According to medical researchers, it is both dangerous and ineffective. Claims that the practice removes earwax have been thoroughly debunked. In spite of requests to do so, the manufacturers have refused to stop making false claims. The practice originated with the Hopi tribe.

Bat Girl and I tried it. It hurt me, it didn’t hurt her. We’re not sure it worked. Did we see wax? Yep. Could we hear better? Nope. Did it work? We’re just not sure… how confusing!

Have you tried it? Did you like it? Do you think it works? Would you do it again?

ok, I do this at least once a year and I think it helps me hear better. Now, does it really? Who knows, but I THINK it does so that is what is important right????

I had a friend who used to do that every once in awhile. I'm not sure if it helped with anything, but I'm all for "alternative" medicine:)

okay girls- I would have sworn by these a few years ago. I used them on Kid2 because her ears bothered her and she felt like she couldn't hear as well as she could before. We did it several times and she swore by it. It made her feel better, hear better etc.

I do not feel comfortable lighting myself on fire but Im okay lighting BatGirl on fire and Im okay with her lighting me on fire- SO, we tried it. She didn't get as much as I did and it REALLY REALLY hurt my ears.... it was weird.

I also left out the part where part of it fell on me and burned my neck. It hurt me more to see how scared BatGirl was that she may have burned me. Poor girl, she was freaking out afraid that she had burned my skin- I love that girl.

so work? I really don't know. But heck I say give it a try, if you feel like it works what have you lost? And yes Steph, I am also a big fan of alternative medicine. Why not give it try, you have nothing to lose! I have lots of alternative medicine stories and thoughts!
